Love to Sing? SFV Chorale is Recruiting New Singers

Shortly after Labor Day, the San Fernando Valley Chorale begins a new season of singing, collaborative learning, camaraderie and fun in preparation for our popular and well-attended holiday concerts.

“We hold no auditions. We do nice and original music, sacred and secular. The music is fun and not too difficult.  You never know who is going to show up for the Christmas Concert. -- last year it was Elvis and Santa Claus. We are a very social group - we love everybody,” says longtime director, Conrad Immel.

New singers, with a love of music and a willingness to share their gift of singing, are welcome to join us.  Immel, with Nancy Immel as accompanist, leads rehearsals beginning Tuesday, September 4. and continuing on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church, 10000 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills, CA 91345.

The Chorale, a non-profit,  non-sectarian group of men and women singers, performs two concerts each season - in December for the holidays and in May or early June for a spring songfest.

"It's a Grand Night for Singing" With the San Fernando Chorale

“It’s a Grand Night for Singing” when the San Fernando Valley Chorale brings a magical mix of pop, Broadway and classical music to audiences in early June.  



The first is on Saturday, June 2 at 7 p.m. at the Chapel of the Cross, 10000 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills, CA 91345. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. 



The second is on Sunday, June 3 at 5:30 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Chatsworth, 20440 Lassen Street (east of Mason Ave., Chatsworth, CA 91311. Doors open at 5:15 p.m.

From Georges Bizet, Irving Berlin and J.S. Bach to Buddy Holly and Rogers & Hammerstein, the joyous vocal pyrotechnics of the performers under the direction of the ever-enthusiastic Conrad Immel will provide a springboard to your summer fun and entertainment. Sure to be a show-stopper is a medley from “Carousel.” Solos, both vocal and instrumental, enhance the magic of these live performances.

Following the concert, a social gathering with refreshments provides an opportunity to meet Chorale and audience members. For the first time, a craft and gift bazaar will be held, with any proceeds going to support the Chorale, a non-profit, non-sectarian organization composed of men and women singers who share their love of music to the community at large in the winter and spring.. Suggested donations for performances are $10 for Adults and $5 for children.

Recruiting New Singers for the SFVChorale

With the arrival of the New Year, 2018, the San Fernando Valley Chorale launches a new season of singing, collaborative learning, camaraderie and fun. Conrad Immel, longtime director and an expert at selecting crowd-pleasing music from popular and classical works, scours the Chorale's musical library for just the right program for the spring concerts.

New singers are welcome to join. No audition is necessary, just a love of music and a willingness to share your gift of singing.  Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, February 6 and continue on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church, 10000 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills, CA 91345.

San Fernando Valley Chorale Wishes You Christmas

The San Fernando Valley Chorale is back with its magical live holiday music in early December. “We Wish You Christmas” is the theme of the 2017 holiday concerts.

The first is on Saturday, December 2,  2017 at 5 p.m. at the Chapel of the Cross, 10000 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills, CA 91345.

The second is on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Chatsworth, 20440 Lassen Street (east of Mason Ave.), Chatsworth, CA 91311.

The two part program, which features sacred and secular Christmas music, includes songs such as '50's Doo-wop style “Blue Christmas,” Christmas anthem "The Joyful News," and gentle ballad "Mary, Did You Know?" Not to be missed is the boisterous "Rock and Roll Reindeer" and ever-popular "Jingle Bells."

Solos, both vocal and instrumental, enhance the magic of these live performances. Conrad Immel, long-time director, and his wife and accompanist, Nancy Immel, rehearse with the chorale every Tuesday evening for three months to perfect arrangements of well-loved as well as rarely heard holiday songs.

The Chorale is a non-profit, non-sectarian group of men and women singers who share their love of music to the community-at-large in the winter and spring. Suggested donations for performances are $10 for Adults and $5 for children. Doors open 15 minutes prior to the concert.

Singing Into Spring with the SFValley Chorale

Save the dates! Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4 bring live music concerts under the direction of Conrad Immel to delight San Fernando Valley residents.

Pop, classical, Broadway, folk, and spiritual music fill the program for the San Fernando Valley Chorale's spring concert, "Singing Into Spring." Medleys from "The Music Man" and "Fiddler on the Roof" resonate through the concert halls, along with magnificent solos such as "Nessun Dorma."

What more could you wish for on a beautiful day in June? Social hour and refreshments follow the concerts creating opportunities to meet and mix with dedicated Chorale performers. Where and when?
